Late Summer Events in Albany

With the summer event season winding down, there are still great free events in the Albany area to check out in August and September!  Find out a little more on each one below:

 

 

ALLYMPICS

August 27,28


Take advantage of the beautiful weather while you still can at the City of Albany’s free two-day Allympics event, the Department of Recreation’s city-wide summer initiative to get all Albany residents fit and active. The Allympics is being held this Thursday, August 27th from 3-6 p.m. and Friday, August 28th from 3-7 p.m.at Lower Lincoln Park. The event will include games, fun, and friendly competition in activities such as Zumba, a tug-of-war, flag football, a 50-yard dash, relay races, kick, pass, and punt, an obstacle course, and more.
 

ALBANY LATIN FEST

August 29


Albany LatinFest is a full day, family-oriented festival with musical performances highlighting the diversity of Hispanic musical genres, a wide array of food, arts and crafts vendors, children's amusements, and community, government, and business information booths. The event is staged in Albany's Washington Park from 11am to 6pm. As a cultural event, LatinFest celebrates the beauty and diversity of the Hispanic cultural heritage and acknowledges the contributions made by Hispanic Americans on local, state, national, and international levels.

 

 

SEPTEMBER IN THE CITY
Wednesdays in September


The City of Albany presents the 2015 September in the City Art Fair series, September Wednesdays in Downtown Albany’s Tricentennial Park. A midday showcase for local art, music and culture, September in the City features exhibits and work available for purchase from regional mixed media artists and crafters, with a different live musical act providing the soundtrack each week.

 

 

ALBANY RIVERFRONT JAZZ FESTIVAL
September 12


The City of Albany presents the 14th Annual Albany Riverfront Jazz Festival on Saturday, September 12. This all-day, free concert event takes place at Jennings Landing from 1 to 9 p.m. Since its debut in 2002, the Albany Riverfront Jazz Festival has featured an eclectic array of all-time musical greats, critically acclaimed up-and-coming artists and local favorites at one of the area’s most spectacular venues. Great food, beverages, vendors and a fireworks show make the Jazz Festival an event for all ages!
