Royal Tulip Ball

Eventbrite - The 69th Annual Royal Tulip Ball

The 69th Annual Royal Tulip Ball will take place on Saturday evening, May 13, 2017, at the brand new Albany Capital Center in Downtown Albany. This wonderful annual event is an opportunity to celebrate our Capital City, the historic relationship with our sister city, Nijmegen, as well as several exciting and new must-see features an Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill  and Relentless Awareness!

The Royal Tulip Ball is the crown jewel of the widely-anticipated Tulip Festival weekend. For 69 years, the City of Albany has hosted this celebration of Albany’s rich history and tradition with a three-day event featuring the annual street scrubbing, a festival attended by thousands in the historic Washington Park, and the Royal Tulip Ball. This year’s Ball will be like none other, complete with a fabulous red carpet entrance that will lead the way to a night of celebration in Capital-style!

Proceeds from this year’s Ball will benefit the Capital City Fund, a component of the Community Foundation of the Greater Capital Region. This fund was created to help nonprofit organizations better serve the people of Albany with effective and innovative programs and services. Grants are awarded in three areas:

  • Community/Cultural: programs and services that involve a direct benefit to residents, such as the enhancement of a park or the sponsoring of a parade or community event.
  • Arts: programs that involve any creative expression, such as music, dance exhibits, or public art projects.
  • Educational: learning opportunities for youth and/or adults (in this category, extra weight will be given to programs that enhance the mission of the Albany Promise.)

We hope you can join Mayor Kathy Sheehan and her husband Bob as they celebrate with the newly crowned Tulip Queen and her court.
