The 60th Albany Tulip Festival will be held May 9 - 11, 2008 in
Washington Park, Albany, New York
Named one of the 2008 top 100 events by the American Bus Association Winner of the 2003 Hospitality Excellence Award
This highly anticipated spring festival celebrates its 60th anniversary as over 200,000 tulip bulbs blossom into a sea of colors just in time for Mothers Day. Historic events take place annually during this three day festival including the street scrubbing on State Street, the Tulip Queen Coronation*, Tulip Queen and Court Luncheon and Royal Tulip Ball.
This year’s festival unites the senses like never before with exciting and innovative new attractions. Friday evening will introduce Night Fire, a unique art-installation of the elements involving local artists and community partners to create a special 60th anniversary ceremony. Also, a wellness garden will be available Saturday and Sunday compromised of local, regional and national resources for personal wellness. In addition to these great events, the festival has expanded to all day Friday, making food and crafts available for purchase in addition to the traditional Saturday and Sunday vendor atmosphere.
Acoustic music highlights Friday's events, while Saturday and Sunday include children’s activities and multiple stages with nationally acclaimed musical performances .

Free off-street parking available at the Elk St. lot (at the intersection of Elk and Hawk) and the Eagle St. lot (at the intersection of Eagle and Madison). CDTA shuttles will run between these locations and Washington Park (at Henry Johnson Blvd. and State St.) every 20 minutes beginning at noon each day. The last shuttle from the park leaves at 6:30pm.

Jessica Engel, Kayla Janeski, Amy LaGrange, Caitlin Spinelli, Sarah Volk
Jessica Engel, age 21, Voorheesville
Jessica is a senior at SUNY Plattsburgh majoring in communications with a concentration in broadcast journalism. Her hobbies include all sports from volleyball to basketball and she loves to golf with her dad. Jessica has taught Sunday school and volunteers for many organizations such as Ronald McDonald House, food drives, Relay for Life and the Capital City Rescue Mission. Her career goal is to become an anchor for entertainment news.
Kayla Janeski, age 23, Albany Kayla is a 2007 SUNY Albany graduate with a degree in communications. She’s volunteered at Ellis hospital, the AIDS walk, Earth Day clean up and Relay for Life. She enjoys a variety of outdoor activities such as tennis, running and soccer. She loves to cook and bowl with her friends. Kayla currently works at the NYS Assembly and plans to continue her involvement there and is interested in possibly running for local office one day.
Amy LaGrange, age 21, Feura Bush Amy attends the College of Saint Rose with a dual major in Childhood and Special Education with a concentration in English. She works at Catholic Charities and at the Resource Center for Independent Living. As a volunteer, she has taught Sunday School, led youth groups and has worked with the Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center. Her hobbies include teaching and helping people with disabilities. Amy plans to be a special education teacher for an urban area school.
Caitlin Spinelli, age 18, Albany Caitlin is a Senior at Colonie Central High School and plans to attend college to major in business. She has volunteered at St. Peters, local food pantries, the Ronald McDonald House and youth court. She enjoys spending time with her family, running and reading. Caitlin aspires to take over her family business or work on Wall Street in New York City.
Sarah Volk, age 21, Albany Sarah is a Junior studying sociology at SUNY Albany and works in Human Resources at the State Tax and Finance department. She is president of the community service club (Circle K), and volunteers for the rescue mission in downtown Albany and Arbor Hill Community Center. In 2007, she traveled to New Orleans to assist hurricane relief effort.

Tulip of the Day - May 5, 2008
It's that time of year again! Tulips are springing up throughout the Capital City in preperation for our annual celebration. Today's tulip of the day is Apricot Beauty. It has big blooms with shades from soft rose to glowing apricot. It may be found in Washington Park as well as other locations in the city.
